A 3-day workshop on ‘Reorienting Education for Sustainable Future’

With an objective to strengthen responses to Climate Change, a three-day workshop on “Education for Sustainable Development” was co-organized by Indian Network on Ethics and Climate Change (INECC) – Asia South Pacific Association for Basic and Adult Education (ASPBAE) and National Coalition for Education (NCE) at Indian Social Institute, New Delhi. A first of its kind for Educators from across 11 states of India, the workshop explored the fundamental links between Growth – Development and Climate Change and the crucial role of educators in promoting effective engagement of students, children, youth and other stakeholders to accelerate progress towards sustainable development, contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and to the Doha Work Programme under the Paris Agreement.

  • Decarbonised and Decentralised Energy Future possible for India - The Energy Equity Link

    A one day expert consultation on” How is a Decarbonised and Decentralised Energy Future possible for India - The Energy Equity Link” was co organised by INECC- LAYA and MISEREOR on the 30th November 2016 at New Delhi. The consultation examined the current state of play of the Energy landscape in India, reflected on future Energy scenarios posited by various modelling groups and highlighted the value of community based decentralised renewable energy projects undertaken in several parts of the country. In the backdrop of the NITI Aayog being on the brink of releasing a new Energy policy for India which is expected to form the basis of India’s energy security paradigm, this consultation found it crucial for the new energy paradigm to be embedded in the principles of equity and justice, not only domestically but also internationally and to proactively move forwards in a direction that speaks for justice, job creation and sustainable economic development.

    Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Accountability & Civil Society Engagement in Jharkhand

    INECC in collaboration with Laya and Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK) held a consultation with local state NGOs, CSOs and individuals to discuss CSR partnerships and corporate accountability from a sustainable development perspective in Jharkhand as well as the role that these partnerships could play to combat Climate Change while working together towards a sustainable Jharkhand.

    Energy, Disaster and Development Challenges in Nepal- Lessons for SAARC

    INECC organized project partner's meeting and a network meeting in Kathmandu, Nepal from the 28th till the 31st of March. A Panel Presentation on Energy, Disaster and Development Challenges in Nepal- Lessons for SAARC" was organized on the 30th of March with participation from Local Nepal based CSOs. A day long field visit to Lele VDC and the Cha Khola catchment in Indrawati sub basin provided the participants an opportunity for learning and exchange for strengthening Community resilience to Climate Change.

    INECC working group on the SDGs

    The INECC working group on the SDGs met on the 9th and 10th of February in Delhi to create an understanding around the SDGs that could add value to the work of the network at the grassroots.It explored its contribution to the development of global SDG indicators and identified a couple of goals and targets that it would engage with at the national level .More specifically, it was recognized that INECC with its outreach across states, plays an important role towards building capacities of officials and communities at the district / block / panchayat level for programme planning and reporting aligned with the SDGs.

    The two day workshop on Climate “Resilience for sustainable Communities”- A Policy Perspective deliberated diverse approaches t o build community resilience across ecosystems. The workshop was spread over 5 sessions focusing on community resilience models, equitable energy, Climate Education, Climate Finance and policy discussions on SDGs and Climate Change. The workshop was attended by 57 participants from across 9 states in India.

    held a two day training workshop for college students at Don Bosco Hall, Hopkinson Road, Shillong on the 23rd and 24th of July 2015. The workshop was attended by 65 college students from various states in the North East. The workshop aimed to introduce the participants to the latest in climate science, policy and debate from a North East resilience perspective. The latest developments in science, linkages with events such as floods, and relevant adaptation and mitigation strategies for the North East were covered.
